Using a meeting's desktop app instead of the browser? Get the desktop app below — it listens to system audio, so it works with any meeting software.

Desktop app

Install it on your computer

The same copilot as a native app. It listens to your computer's system audio instead of one browser tab, so it works with the Zoom, Teams, Webex and Meet desktop apps too, and the floating answer panel stays hidden from screen sharing. On a Mac, open → About This Mac: an "Apple M…" chip means Apple Silicon; an Intel processor means Intel.

macOS

Your system

macOS 13 Ventura or newer. System audio capture uses Apple's built-in screen & audio recording — no extra drivers.

Not yet notarised, so macOS will say it "could not verify" the app the first time. Click Done, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. You only do this once.

Windows

Your system

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. System audio capture works out of the box.

Not yet code-signed: if SmartScreen appears, click "More info", then "Run anyway".

Which one?

Extension or desktop app

They share the same settings, knowledgebase and answer engine. Pick by where your practice interviews happen.

Browser extension

  • Meetings you join in a browser tab (Teams, Meet, Zoom web, Webex)
  • Nothing to install beyond the store listing; updates arrive automatically
  • Answer panel in the tab, or docked in Chrome's side panel

Desktop app

  • Any meeting software, including the Zoom, Teams and Webex desktop apps
  • Listens to system audio, so it hears whatever your speakers play
  • Floating panel that stays on top and is hidden from screen sharing

First run

Three things to know

Allow audio capture once

The extension asks for permission to capture the meeting tab's audio. The desktop app hears the interviewer through your computer's audio output: the first time you click Start listening, macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording — approve it for Mock Interview Copilot, then quit and reopen the app. Windows and Linux need no extra step.

Add your own API key

Pick a transcription provider and an answer provider and paste your keys. They stay in your browser's local storage or in the app's data folder on your computer. See Support for where to get keys.

Join, then Start listening

Join the practice call, then click Start listening. The answer panel can be dragged, minimised or hidden (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + U); in the desktop app it is also invisible in screen shares.

Use responsibly

Mock Interview Copilot is an educational practice tool. Only use it in mock interviews, practice sessions, and meetings where transcription assistance is permitted, and obtain any consent required by the participants and by law in your jurisdiction. See the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
